Statement of Faith

Statement of Faith

We believe in the inerrancy of Scripture: The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God. (Acts 1:16, 28:23; Romans 15:4; I Corinthians 2:13, 10:11; II Timothy 3:16,17; II Peter 1:19-21)

The Trinity
We believe that God is eternally existent in three separate persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These persons are equal in every divine perfection and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption. (Matthew 28:18-19; Mark 12:29; Acts 5:3-4; II Corinthians 13:14)

God the Father
We believe that God the Father is the personal, transcendent, infinite and sovereign Creator. He is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Nehemiah 9:6)

Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, provided for the atonement of our sins by His vicarious death on the Cross, was bodily resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit, ascended back to the right hand of God the Father, and ever lives to make intercession for us. (John 1:12, 3:16; Hebrew 1:1-3; Revelation 1:4-6; Matthew 1:18-23; Luke 1:35; I Timothy 2:5)

The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, His personality, and His work in regeneration, sanctification, and preservation. His ministry is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and implement Christ’s work of redeeming the lost and empowering the believer for godly living and service. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells each believer at the moment of salvation and empowers us to fulfill Jesus’ command to preach the Gospel to the entire world, an obligation shared by all believers. (Acts 1:8; Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 5:18; John 3:6, 14:16-17,16:7-15; I John 2:20-29; Romans 8:9-27)

We believe that man, made in the image of God and originally sinless, chose rebellion. All people are sinners both by nature and choice, and are therefore spiritually dead – separated from God and responsible for their own sin. However, salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord, trusting Him to save, that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit, all his/her sins are forgiven, and that person becomes a child of God, destined to spend eternity with the Lord. (Genesis 1:26, 2:21-25, 3:14-21; John 3:3-8; Romans 3:23, 6:23)

We believe in salvation solely by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that this salvation is based upon the sovereign grace of God, and was purchased by Christ on the cross, and is received by man solely through faith, apart from any human merit, works or ritual. We believe salvation results in righteous living, good works, and proper social concern. (Ephesians 3:9-21, 2:8-9; I Corinthians 15:3-4; Revelation 1:5)

Spiritual Gifts
We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Scriptures, and that they are valid for today if they are exercised within the Scriptural guidelines. We as believers are to desire the best gifts, seeking to exercise them in love that the whole Body of Christ might be edified. We believe that love is the most important gift, and without this love, all exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless. (Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-11, 28-31; 1 Corinthians 14; Hebrews 2:4)

The Last Days
We believe that the second coming of Christ with His saints to rule on the earth is NOT imminent, but that there are things recorded in scripture that have to happen before Christ returns. (II Thessalonians 2:1-4 and Revelation 20:4-5 to name a few) Jesus’ awesome sacrifice and love motivates us to holy living, heartfelt worship, committed service, diligent study of God’s Word, regular fellowship, and participation in adult baptism by immersion and Holy Communion.
